Speed Queen® laundry manufacturer,
the world's leading provider of commercial laundry equipment, is
now accepting entries for its third annual contest which will pay
off one deserving store owner's replacement loan through Speed
Queen Financial Services (SQFS), up to $100,000.
July 1st through October 31st, owners who
reinvest in their laundromat with new, state-of-the-art Speed Queen
equipment financed through SQFS will be eligible to enter the 2016
Speed Queen Art of the Journey contest. Once they have financed at
least $2,500 in new Speed Queen equipment through SQFS, store
owners can enter the contest by uploading an original piece of art
- photo collage/montage, video, poem, drawing or painting - that
showcases their unique laundry journey to the contest website.
"Our laundromat owners come from diverse walks of life and each
have an interesting and valuable story to tell about their laundry
journey," said Jim Rosenthal, Speed Queen North American sales
manager. "Upgrading outdated equipment with new, efficient machines
featuring industry-leading technology will not only help reduce
utilities, improve a store owner's business operation and increase
overall profitability, but owners will also have the opportunity to
enter to win $100,000 through the Speed Queen Art of the Journey
The original piece of art should highlight the steps the
laundromat owner has taken in their journey such as what they did
before entering the industry, why they invested in laundry, how
they have reinvested in their business, what role their business
plays in the community and how the business has grown since
In addition to awarding one grand prize winner, all qualifying
entrants will receive a $100 gift certificate that can be used
towards new equipment or parts purchases at an authorized Speed
The 2016 Speed Queen Art of the Journey contest marks the third
year the iconic brand has set out to reward its customers for
seeing the value reinvesting can bring to their businesses.
Tyesha Offiong and her husband Emmanuel, who own A&Q Laundry
Room in South River, New Jersey, won the $100,000 grand prize in
2015. When the Offiong's purchased their laundromat the store was
rundown and they knew they needed to replace the equipment in order
to run a successful business, as well as provide the quality
service to their community they desired. Shortly after replacing
the equipment, they learned about the annual Speed Queen contest.
To their surprise, the Offiong's won the grand prize and it has
helped their business in many ways, including accelerating their
timeline for investing in their next laundromat.
Tyesha Offiong's advice to owners considering entering this
year's contest is simple, "Just do it. We all have a unique journey
and you'll never know the value of yours unless you share it."
